I think that photoshop can be used for some very good things. But I also think that people are taking things way out of hand like everything else. The pictures that were fixed from black and white to color, and the red to color is amazing!!!!

Beauty, art & creation are the privilege of the artist. Truth is not the point unless the photo is meant to represent that. Anybody whose self worth is based on photos already has a poor self image and needs to work on that, not trying to convince everyone else to accommodate their problem. If a photo can be altered & boosted to bring out its potential, I have no problems with it. If it is altered to give a false representation for personal gain or nefarious reasons, then it is a fraud & lie and the USER should be held accountable (note the artist is not necessarily the user).

Why do photographs have to be true representations of their subjects? Photographs have always been altered through dodging and burning as well as a variety of other techniques, filters, etc.
Before photography, painters created images and altered everything about them, from lighting to composition to color, and nobody ever criticizes them for changing things.
Norman Rockwell’s subjects never looked like the paintings, probably never were posed like that, yet we revere him for his ability to represent American life.
Throughout history images have always been altered so they can better represent their idea and purpose. Digital imaging is no different.
P.S. I think the work is great.

I think that these are all wonderful pics. For the most part this photoshop artist has been able to give people a picture (not so much who they are) of who or how they want to be. Many photos are taken under less than flattering light and at an unbecoming angle. These photos show how that can be compensated for as well. The colorizing and retouching is also FAB!

The importance of this type of work is exemplified in the photo of the couple cutting the cake. You have taken an unusable photo and made it presentable. To the couple cutting the cake this could be priceless, especially if the original was the only copy of that image.

Not bad, even considering that one or two pre-images were back wound a bit. I am always impressed that people can do this sort of thing with a UAD like photoshop. You will be really good if you learn how to control luminosity and shadow in the larger areas.
Oh a tip; when you copy fabric folds to another part of the image resist the temptation to take whole bunches of folds. Try just one fold at a time and only just the fold. Looks more natural.

The photo coloration was pretty impressive, but what’s the cut-and-paste bottle in the last picture? At least fix the hole in the shadow! And I’m sorry, but the second picture has to have one of the creepiest, fake looking eye retouches I’ve ever seen. Nice glamour job on the first one, though. I like how even you made the lips.

meh. people used to do all the real, you know, necessary stuff, the colour fixing and stuff, with good photography, filters, knowledge of how to light and take a decent goddamn photo.

Manipulating photographs has been done for years, it was done in the dark room by people like Ansel Adams.
