“Which way? Our Way! A Strong Community Way”

Client: FNQ Films/Queensland Health
The client needed a full 2D animation for this indigenous health and community campaign. The characters went through several concepts before arriving at our heroes here. The best part is how wholeheartedly communities have embraced this campaign and it’s message.

Client: Leary Builders
A 3D character was required to be concepted, modelled, rigged and animated for this TVC. We took this job from conception through to final delivery, through several iterations of the Character, until “Toady” was finally realised.

To put this TVC together, I filmed the motion with a real video camera, motion tracked the footage and then brought this in as the basis for my composite. I then took 20 odd photographs of the details inside the car and composited them into a seamless shot and matched this to the tracking data. From there I animated the Stars plate separately, animated the hand, put together the audio track and tied it all together. It was apparently very successful and well received.

TVC to alert customers to the new opening of Smithfield Centre.

This was a commercial done for the Stocklands Money for Masterminds campaign.

A hammy commercial done for Value Homes.

This TVC was supposed to lift the profile of the Cairns Post, and attract new readers. This ad was part of the Cairns Posts strategy that allowed them to become Australia’s Fastest Growing Newspaper during that year.

It’s obviously a fairly heavy composite job, so after I finished the rough cut, I moved on to trying different graphical elements to compliment each member of staff. Paul Smith from Y-Films did a great job of bringing out the staff members personality in his direction, and I really don’t think the TVC would have worked if that sincerity was lost.

Another News Ltd Job here, this time for the “Realtor” Real estate Magazine. Despite numerous changes to distance the appearance from that of Parker Brothers’ Trademarks, the spot still ended up being quite striking.

The Sun revisted their paper’s design, and needed to launch the new image with some impact. The commercial successfully took the Queensland Media Awards 2006’s Award for “Best Special Effects”.

Other awards won included “Best Editing/Production Technique” and I was involved in the campaign which took home the Bob Hale Award: “Best Campaign”. I will post these TVCs in the coming days.

This is a simple execution of a simple idea. Unfortunately the client required we include a picture of the car lot. I think people should just accept that used car lots have the aesthetic value of a bucket of chewed moths. Hopefully the rest of the spot rises above it.

Books Alive is an upcoming national TVC sponsored by the Australian Government.

At the time of shooting, the featured book was yet to be written, so we decided to film the book with a green matte board with a few markers on it. Once the final artwork was completed, I began the arduous task of replacing the cover artwork & painting in the shadows etc.

The page turn animation was also done in advance of recieving the final artwork, but thankfully all the pieces managed to fall together seamlessly.

Pythonesque TVC for Allan’s Tiles.

An image TVC for Tjapukai Cultural Park in Far North Queensland. The national award winning tourist attraction sought to address Australians who had not yet seen the cultural park. This was done for FNQ Film Company

One of a Series of Image TVCs done for Reds Salon & Spa. We’d shot over an hour of footage of Lee Cohen talking about his award winning salon and managed to distill it down to 4 key spots to make up the series.

An Easter Commercial for Westcourt Plaza.

This TVC for James Cook University was successful at raising the mid-term enrolments well and truly past the goals. Aside from that, I think it looks quite nice too

TVC for the Mantova Development.

Kennedy’s Retravision TVC for their 75th Birthday Sale. This commercial was a resounding success.

This is a similar story to the Cairns Post Image TVC. The year that this ran was (by far) the highest enrolment in the University’s history. Of course there are many factors that determine these things, but that was the purpose of this TVC - to raise the University’s profile and make the other factors more evident to potential students… In that capacity it was extremely successful.
